* Benedict the Hermit (c. 550)
- according to Gregory's *Dialogues*, he survived being 
shut up in an oven by invading Goths

* Ethelwald the Hermit (699)
- succeeded St Cuthbert as the person with the postal 
address: Hermitage, Farne Island

* Pietro Ghisengi da Gubbio (c. 1250?)
- when the *Te Deum* was heard coming from his tomb, it was 
opened, and there was found Pietro's corpse in a kneeling 
position, with open mouth and joined hands

* Sibillina Biscossi, virgin (1367)
- blind from age of twelve, she lived most of her life as 
an anchoress in a Dominican church of Pavia
