Dear Otfried, Let me add my note of appreciation for the work you have done for Italian Studies worldwide, and my best wish for a brilliant future, which you deserve. What is happening to you is a troubling sign of what is wrong with the academic world. Instead of setting an example, our administrators often equate education to a business, and treat people as items that can be discarded at any time, regardless of their value.
