Research Fellow (3 years) – Relation of Farmer Psychology and
Socio-Economic Factors to Farm Animal Welfare. 

Applications are invited for an enthusiastic researcher to work on an
interdisciplinary project to investigate the relationships between farmer
psychology, socio-economic factors and animal welfare on Scottish farms.
The Research Fellow will be responsible for the design and implementation
of a survey of farmers to assess these relationships and will also play a
major role in data analysis and writing up of results. The post is based in
the Department of Psychology and will involve collaboration with animal and
rural scientists in Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Bangor.  The post is available
for a fixed term of 3 years from April 1999.

Candidates for this post should have a Ph.D. in social or animal science,
or equivalent research experience.  Candidates should preferably have
experience in the organization of surveys and in the analysis of survey
data.  A knowledge of issues relating to farm animal welfare would be an
advantage.  A full driving licence is a requirement for this post.

Salary is on the RA 1A scale up to £18,275
