Greetings!>I believe the jug was part of his family crest. I've attached the crest below.I've always found these attributed arms rather interesting. (Being a 7th-8th century man, Bede couldn't have had a crest, since they weren't invented yet.) I'm curious both as to where this one came from, and whether there are similar ones for any other medieval intellectuals.
