we are having problems with patients stealing the equipment, notably walkers and goniometers. How do other facilities deal with the problem of having equipment for patients to use in hospital, until ordered equipment arrives from a supplier? We have tried getting pre authorized surgeries to get their own and bring it in with them. This is failing, we get "I didn't think I would need it" or "it is locked in my truck in the parking lot", or they just do not follow through. Gait belts never seem to disappear, nor any exercise tubing we vend with the intention patients carry on a program at home. Any advice appreciated.
