Presentation skills for library managers
23 March, London

Whether promoting a library, trying to get resources, or introducing
policies to staff, good presentation can help to achieve a desired outcome
whilst poor presentation can reduce the impact of even the most well-thought
out argument. Getting ideas across to users or committees requires
attention to presentation skills. Knowing some of the most persuasive words
in the language may be useful, but it takes much more than words to make a
real impact.

How will this event help you?
This event is intended to encourage awareness of what makes a good
presentation and will offer you the opportunity to practise key skills in an
informal, friendly and supportive atmosphere.

By the end of the course you will:
*	understand the reasons for developing your presentation skills
*	recognise bad presentation and analyse its causes
*	know how to assess the needs of an audience
*	have examined the key features of good presentation
*	have practised some skills.

Who will benefit from attending?
This event is perfect for anyone who has to present a case to Councillors,
Directors or Principals, or who would like to ensure that they create a good
impression when speaking to colleagues.

Workshop leader:
Dr Gill Burrington has wide experience of teaching and using presentation
skills. She has worked in public and academic libraries and in industry.
