If unix go for HTDig If os/2 (stop laughing now!) there is only one engine that does what you want. Any mac users out there. I believe there was an engine for Macs that could index remote sites etc (was it packaged with Web Star). They have been around for a while, they will not come cheap but they have the pedigree. If you are paying you might also want to look at Muscat. http://www.muscat.co.uk/ last time I checked you had to buy the product to get what you want. Just to make the choice a bit harder.
