BIOME Technical Officer
================================
Required to maintain a range of PCs, UNIX-based servers and peripherals
used by the BIOME team. Working with the Technical Manager, the person
appointed will be responsible for computing support to the team, and also
for liaising with and supporting technical staff at partner sites. This
post will primarily involve technical maintenance of the Internet-based
service, the BIOME network, hardware and software.
Candidates should be educated to A-level standard or equivalent, together
with experience of supporting and installing office software, UNIX systems
within a service development environment and using HTML. A knowledge of
PERL and maintaining an office network is highly desirable.
For the post, hours of work are 20 per week (to be agreed). This post will
be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of three years.
