CALL FOR PRESENTATION ISETA-99 The Twenty-ninth Annual Conference of the International Society for Exploring Teaching Alternatives October 14-16, 1999 Arizona State University Tempe, Arizona ISETA encourages college and university faculty and practitioners from all disciplines to study and apply the principles of teaching, learning, and assessment of learning in innovative ways to develop and implement practical, effective alternatives to the traditional text-lecture-test approach to instruction. The program committee invites proposals for 60 minute presentations that reflect these purposes. We are especially interested in presentations and workshops that demonstrate practical creative teaching alternatives, based on personal experiences and/or research, which will appeal to colleagues in several disciplines. We will also consider presentations on other topics relevant to the purposes of ISETA. Presenters should not read their papers, but should model teaching alternatives by engaging their audience in activity and dialogue. The ISETA conference offers a friendly, informal, and highly interactive gathering of professionals dedicated to the profession and scholarship of teaching and learning. The rich representation of disciplines from traditional liberal arts and sciences, engineering and the applied sciences, and a diverse set of professional schools gives us all new insights to achieving common goals of improving teaching and learning. ISETA conferences provide a professional forum for those who have something to share and the interactive nature of the presentations makes learners and teachers of us all. To be considered for review, a proposal must be postmarked on or before March 31, 1999 and consist of the following: * A cover page containing the title of the presentation or workshop, the name and title of the author(s), complete institutional address(es), and telephone number(s), summer address (if different), FAX number, email address, and special audio-visual needs; * Three copies of a two-page summary of the content of the presentation, including its objectives and format, and a brief profile of the intended audience (Do not include the author's name on the summary pages); * Two stamped, self-addressed envelopes. Submit the above to: Professor Bruce Saulnier Chair of ISETA Review Committee Lender School of Business Quinnipiac College Hamden, CT 06518 phone: (203) 288-5251 x8579 fax: (203) 281-8664 email:[log in to unmask] (please do not email proposals).
