Stewart Robinson

                       Warwick Business School
          Research Studentship in Operational Research and 
                               Systems

Applications are invited for a 3 year EPSRC funded research 
studentship (to commence autumn 1999) in the field of discrete 
event simulation and artificial intelligence.  The project, to be 
supervised by Dr Stewart Robinson, involves the use of these 
technologies in cooperation to help improve the understanding 
of, and aid improvement in, maintenance scheduling for 
manufacturing facilities.  The work involves close collaboration 
with a major automotive manufacturer.

The successful candidate should have a good first degree (2i or 
above), and preferably an MSc, in a related area.  Applications 
are particularly encouraged from candidates with an educational 
and/or employment background in Operational Research, 
Operations Management or Manufacturing/Production 
Engineering.

The studentship, open to UK and other EU nationals, includes 
full fees for PhD registration and a maintenance grant (£6,455 
pa) for a period of 3 years.  Teaching opportunities may be 
available after the first year.
