Scientist Needed for ACE Mission

The candidate will supervise reduction and analysis of data from the ACE (Atmospheric
Chemistry Experiment) satellite to be launched in 2001, in collaboration with members of
the ACE Science Team at the University of Waterloo. The ACE mission is funded by the
Canadian Space Agency for a 5-year period, 1999-2003. The ACE instrument is a high-
resolution infrared Fourier transform spectrometer that will measure atmospheric
absorption spectra by solar occultation. The job responsibilities will include ensuring the
orderly flow of data, and data integrity as well as the development and improvement of
the data handling software. Experience with Fourier transform spectroscopy and
atmospheric chemistry is required. In addition, direct experience with satellite data
processing would be a substantial advantage. The candidate will have the opportunity to
participate in the scientific publications arising from the measurements and to co-
supervise graduate students and post doctoral fellows in the research groups at Waterloo.
