Robert Hunt's "Mineral Statistics" lists Yate colliery from 1854 to 1880 as owned by Long, Keeling & Nowell and later by Long & Co (the name tends to switch back and forth from year to year). The next reference to this pit that I have seen is in the "List of Mines" for 1888 when it was owned by F H Jones (I'm not sure when the change occurred as I haven't seen the records for every year).
