The Department of Midwifery at City University, London hosts a
series of monthly seminars which cover both academic and
practice related aspects of midwifery.
After a summer break the 1999-2000 series starts on 14th October
with a presentation by:
Georgie Stamp from the University of South Australia
'Perineal Massage in Labour: a Multicentred Randomised Trial'
'The study was conducted in the absence of published research to
guide practice and looked at whether perineal massage by
midwives during labour increases the incidence of intact perinea.'

contact names for anyone wanting further information.
The seminars are free and anyone with an interest in midwifery is
very welcome to attend. If you are planning on coming to the
seminar, however, it would be helpful if you could contact Sue
Harrison in advance so that we have some idea of the number of
people to expect.
