History/Documentary Editing: Thomas A. Edison Papers, Assistant Editor.
Full-time.  Primary responsibilities include organization, selection, and
indexing of laboratory notebooks, correspondence, business records, and
other documents in the archives of the Edison National Historic Site, West
Orange, N.J., for microfilm and electronic publication.  Minimum ABD in
American History (or allied field), preferably with background in early
twentieth-century technology, science, or business; must have aptitude for
technical subjects (chemistry, electronics).  Applicants should be able to
perform the functions of University faculty, such as independent research
and publication, teaching, direction of undergraduate research projects,
service on graduate committees, and participation in University-related
lectures and seminars.  Training or experience in documentary editing or
archives management is advantageous; the ability to work in close
collaboration with a team of historical editors is necessary.  Affirmative
