Colleagues,

You may be aware that Matthew Evans, currently Chair of the Library &
Information Commission, was announced on Monday as Chairman of the of the
Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLAC), the body which will take up
the current responsibilities of the MGC and the Library and Information
Commission.

Matthew Evans will be delivering the keynote paper at the mda/CIDOC
conference (8-10 September - see Matthew Stiff's announcement of the full
programme below). This will be the earliest opportunity for the museum,
library and archive communities to hear his thoughts on our converging
futures. Other speakers include Chris Batt, recently made responsible for
the implementation of 'The People's Network'. 

The conference will be presenting an international view of the changing
landscape in our field, with workshops, study visits and special interest
groups, (including CIMI and the International Terminology Group) meeting
through the week. If you're coming to the MCG meeting, why not take the
