Be sure to attend the CIMI Institute Workshop
Digital Access to Cultural Heritage Resources: Implementing the Dublin Core in
museums
September 22nd and 23rd
at ICHIM99 in Washington, D.C.
*********************************************************

This comprehensive, 2-day workshop, draws from the experiences of the CIMI
(<http://www.cimi.org/>http://www.cimi.org/) Dublin Core Testbed and takes the
mystery out of implementing Dublin Core in museums.

Questions to be discussed include: What is metadata?, Why is it important for
our museum? How is it different from traditional cataloguing? How do we know
when to use Dublin Core? What can we expect during implementation? Are there
any tools we can use to automate the process of record creation? And much
more.

Participants will gain an understanding of the fundamentals of DC, the
challenges and opportunities for the use of DC in museums and concrete,
practical experience in creating real DC records.

Who should attend?
