Tuesday 16th November 1999 9.30 a.m. to 4.45 p.m. Exeter Central Library, Exeter The provisional programme and booking form are now available for the Going digital seminar to be held in conjunction with the South western branch of the Library Association at Exeter Central Library on 16th November 1999. The AHDS (Arts and Humanities Data Service) and the Library Association (South Western branch) have arranged the above seminar with the aim of targeting library managers with an interest in digitising holdings in their own collections. The day is not aimed at 'techies' but at managers who will be asking the question 'why digitise?' The seminar will provide practical guidance in the creation, project management and use of digital information. Strategic overviews will be accompanied by case studies from existing library and archive projects to illustrate the problems and opportunities. In addition to having the opportunity to network with colleagues involved in digital projects, participants will be supplied with printed and/or electronic documentation providing pointers to further information about particular issues covered during the course of the day. The programme and booking form can be seen on the web at: http://ahds.ac.uk/users/laswbprog.html http://ahds.ac.uk/users/laswbbooking.html The seminar will cost £40 for LA members and £45 for non-members (plus VAT). (Please note this does not include lunch) The workshop will begin with registration from 9:30am to 10am and finish no later than 4:45pm. The maximum number of places available is 45 so please book early to avoid disappointment. Please contact me on 0171 848-2937 or by e-mail [log in to unmask] for more information if required.
