On Wednesday 14th July John Hampson e-mailed the list re Localtel and their "no call charges" Internet access in the evenings and weekends. I followed this up by looking at their web site and its links (www.localtel.co.uk) and it looked very interesting. I was going to mail LIS-UKOLUG to ask if anyone had signed up and, if they had, what their views of the service were. However, before I did this I caught the end of a discussion of this service on You and Yours (Radio 4) on Friday lunchtime. Apparently the programme has had lots of letters re screaming.net (which is part of the localtel package) most of which have been very uncomplimentary. One person complained that it took 100 attempts between 6pm and midnight just to get logged on to the service. So I have now been put off pursuing this any further. Did anyone else hear this part of the programme? I just had it on as background and only tuned in to the discussion half way through.
