Health Information on the Internet: bimonthly newsletter
--------------------------------------------------------

All 6 issues of the Health Information on the Internet newsletter, published
in 1998, can now be downloaded free of charge from:
http://www.wellcome.ac.uk/healthinfo

At this site you can also see selected articles (in full text) from the
current issue, join the electronic table of contents service, order a sample
(printed) copy and set up a subscription.

The newsletter, published by the Royal Society of Medicine, in association
with the Wellcome Trust, was launched last year to meet the demand from
health professionals for information about the health resources available on
the Internet and to provide a forum for discussing related issues. Topics
discussed in 1998 included the quality of health information on the Web, the
use of MEDLINE on the Web, and the impact of health consumers using the Net
to find health information. Topics planned for 1999 include a series of
practical guides on topics such as how to search the Internet, how to write
a Web page etc, as well as subject-specific pieces where invited experts
will be asked to provide a guide to the Web in their chosen subject.

As Editor I am always on the look-out for accounts of how the Internet is
being used in healthcare settings, and how it is helping in the delivery of
effective patient care. If you have any thoughts on these topics (perhaps
you are involved in an Internet project and would like to share your
experiences) and would like to contribute to this newsletter, please let me
know.
