The 8th Colloquium on the History of Egypt & Syria in the Fatimid, Ayyubid & Mamluk periods (Achtste Colloquium over de Geschiedenis van Egypte en Syrie in de Fatimieden-, Ayyubieden- en Mamloekentijd) will be held in Leuven, 6-7 May 1999. The preliminary programme lists two papers of particular bibliographical/ library interest:- HILLENBRAND, R. (Edinburgh): From Kufic to cursive: the implications of change in 10th to 11th century Qurans. MARTEL-THOUMIAN, B. (Montpellier): Les manuscrits historiques deposes a la Bibliotheque Nationale de Damas (periode mamlouke). There are also others on documentary sources (kettuba, waqfs, etc.).
