Deputy Librarian
The Library supports NIMR's research by providing a
comprehensive, user-focused library and information service. Both
electronic information resources and printed materials play
important parts.
The post-holder will be responsible for delivering and promoting
quality information services to NIMR researchers, encompassing:
Management of access to networked information resources
Delivery of information skills training
Literature searching
Management of local databases and Web sites
Implementation of a Library Management System
The successful candidate will be someone steeped in electronic
information, at home in the post-eLib world and able to deconstruct
the elements of today's academic biomedical information services:
Web, Z, Clumps, Hybrid Libraries, PubMed, OVID, Web of
Science, electronic journals, etc. They will have solid information
skills, technical skills and user training skills as well as a keen
interest in supporting innovation. Experience of implementing a
Library Management System would be desirable.
A professional qualification in Librarianship or Information Science,
a degree in a relevant scientific subject, a minimum of 5 years' post-
qualification experience and experience of working in an academic,
research or medical library are required.

This is an MRC Band 4 post and starting salary will be from
£16,500 - £20,600 (including Location Allowance) depending on
experience with scale rising to £29,900. An MRC Pension
Scheme option is available.
