FROM PEOPLE'S UNIVERSITY TO PEOPLE'S LIBRARY A CELEBRATION OF 150 YEARS OF THE PUBLIC LIBRARY IN BRITAIN AN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON PUBLIC LIBRARY HISTORY Organised by the Library History Group of the Library Association (UK) Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 April 2000 Venue The Braithwaite Hall, The Croydon Clocktower, Croydon. Braithwaite Hall is the former reference department of Croydon Central Library, now part of the innovative arts, museum and library complex known as the Croydon Clocktower.
