Hello All, I would like to intorduce myself to the list. My name is John Mazo and I am an Agent with the United States Border Patrol stationed in Maine on the border with Canada. Prior to my assignment in Maine I was assigned to the California - Mexico border. I would like to present a question that is frequently asked of me but I have been unable to find a definite answer based on treaties or any type of case law: Does anyone know if there is such a thing as a "neutral zone" of approximately 20(?) feet on either side of the actual boundary markers which affects the international boundary of the United States and Canada where, a person if inside this "neutral" zone would not be subject to action by any law enforecment by either country? I have tried to locate case law or any type of treaty between the U.S. and Canada but my search has so far failed. Thanks in advance for any and all information, John Mazo U.S. Border Patrol %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
