Ato Haile gave details on the outcome of the arbitration process and the awards regarding the maritime boundary. Ato Haile reiterated "the government of Eritrea's commitment to fully comply with and to implement the decision with immediate effect." He said, "The decision by both parties not only to solve their border dispute by peaceful and legal means but also to submit, in good faith, to an arbitration procedure as well as, once an award was given, to honor the impartial decision of third parties will surely be remembered in the coming years as a good example of international conduct by states." The minister noted that "the legal settlement of the dispute will not only pave the way for a harmonious relationship between the littoral states of the Red Sea but also opens a new window of opportunity for the consolidation of peace and stability in the region and the creation of a zone of peace, development and mutual benefit."
