An IST information day was held in Paris on 22 February 1999,
     attended by over 4000 people.

There will be two Calls for Proposals under the IST programme in
1999. These will be on 16 March and 15 September. The Action
Lines of greatest interest to libraries, museums and archives are
AL III.2.3 and III.2.4. These are covered by the Cultural
Heritage Applications unit (DG XIII/E-2) which includes many staff
from the former Electronic Publishing and Libraries unit.

Not all Actions Lines will feature in all CfPs.

The 16 March CfP will include Action Line III.2.3: Access to
scientific and cultural heritage. The deadline will be 16 June.

The 15 September CfP will include Action Line III.2.4: Digital
preservation of cultural heritage. The deadline is likely to be in
     December.

A feature of the IST programme will be a revised Workprogramme
each year - there will be no fixed Workprogramme for the whole
     programme as previously.

In addition to the fixed deadline Calls, there will be a continous
submission scheme for the open domain of future and emerging
technologies, and for a number of IST programme support measures.
