INVITATION The University of Trento (Department of Structural and Mechanical Engineering) and the University of Naples Federico II (Department of Geotechnical Engineering) are promoting the International Workshop on Unsaturated Soils: "Experimental Evidence and Theoretical Approaches" Faculty of Engineering, University of Trento 10 - 12 April, 2000. WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES The Workshop on Unsaturated Soils has been thought to involve doctoral and post-doctoral researchers in order to exchange experiences about new advances and developments in this field. It is deemed that a rather informal meeting will stimulate discussion, exchange of new ideas, and debate on fundamental topics. Doctoral and post-doctoral researchers from different Universities have been invited to present their work. According to the goal of the Workshop, special importance will be given to discussion. After each presentation, 30 min will be devoted to questions, remarks, and comments. In each session a discussion leader, who would have previously reviewed the papers, might also arise specific questions. WORKSHOP THEMES Themes of the workshop are Fundamentals and Theoretical Advances, Testing Techniques and Field Measurements, Modelling and Numerical Analysis, Flow Analysis and Mass Transport. PROCEEDINGS All contributions will be published in a proceeding book, which will be freely distributed at the Workshop to all participants.
