The Student Support Regulations make no distinction between undergraduate courses and PGCE's when it comes to DSA - exactly the same criteria are used to determine eligibility. The only thing that may differ is the level of support offered by an Authority, especially when it comes to purchasing equipment. An Authority my feel that it would be better to loan equipment to a PGCE student rather than buy it outright in the same way that it might loan equipment to a student who applies for DSA in their final year. This is, of course, entirely at the Authorities discretion. Hope that helps. Strictly speaking this is PostGrad so I wouldn't have thought (at the moment anyway) that students would be able to access the DSA, but one of my PGCE ers seems to think otherwise. She tells me that LEA's consider it as 'equivelent to the 4th year of an undergraduate course'. I don't have a problem with this if this is so, but can anyone give me a definitive answer?
