Conference Announcement and Call for Papers Creating Caring Communities to Serve Mentally Ill Offenders International Forensic Mental Health Conference University of Central Lancashire, Preston, UK 19 - 23 July 1999 Organised by the Faculty of Health, University of Central Lancashire, Preston, UK and Ehrenkranz School of Social Work, New York University, USA Mentally Ill or Mentally Disordered Offenders present the practitioners, policy makers and family members with a number of dilemmas and challenges. In managing this care, service providers within Mental Health Care, Social Care and the Criminal Justice System have to maintain a balance between the needs of the individual patient, professional role and responsibility and the expectations of society. The issues raised by this client group transcend service boundaries and are common to many countries. This International Forensic Mental Health Conference provides an opportunity for practitioners, policy makers and researchers to share ideas and to discuss common issues affecting Mentally Ill Offenders.
