For Immediate Release July 20, 1999 Academy of Certified Archivists Launches New WebSite The Academy of Certified Archivists is pleased to announce that is has obtained its own internet domain name "certifiedarchivists.org". It has also updated and enhanced its website to provide better access to information about the Academy. President Susan C. Box, C.A., commented: " It is critical for the ACA to be able to provide updated, information on its ongoing programs to its members and to those seeking archival certification. In an age of instant communication, the new website provides us the opportunity to interface with our constituents in a relevant and immediate fashion." Regent for Outreach Phil Mooney, C.A., extended appreciation to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for hosting ACA's first website. He said "Tim Ericson and Mark Vargas are to be especially thanked for their assistance in hosting and developing the Academy's first website. The new website will be that much better due to the groundwork laid in that first effort." He concluded by acknowledging the assistance of UW-M archivist Leslie Heinrichs in making a smooth transition to the new internet service provider, CapuNet LLC. The new ACA website is designed by Pauline Chvilicek of CapuNet LLC, a Rockville, Maryland firm specializing in corporate internet content. It includes basic information on the Academy, its mission, history and activities, certification and recertification procedures including the Handbook for Archival Certification, listings of new Academy members and 1999 examination sites, key contact points for specific ACA information, and helpful links to other archival organizations and resources. The current newsletter should be mounted shortly and a newsletter archive is in the planning stage.
