Maybe not everybody interested in the question of tin from central Asia knows that there has been German field research into them, see several authors, Prähistorischer Zinnbergbau in Mittelasien, in Eurasia Antiqua 4, 1998. There are descriptions of a small number of sites with not very dramatic fields of opencasts. I expect we will hear more.
