MEDICAL STATISTICIAN

Clinical Trials & Statistics Unit (CTSU)

Section of Epidemiology, The Institute of Cancer Research 


The Institute of Cancer Research (www.icr.ac.uk), together 
with the adjacent Royal Marsden NHS Trust, is one of the 
world's leading cancer research centres.  We are seeking a 
motivated statistician to join the CTSU to work on the 
initiation, conduct and analysis of local and 
national/international randomised clinical trials of cancer 
treatment. 

You will be involved in all aspects of study design, 
protocol development, data handling, statistical analysis 
and trial management.

Your prinicpal role will be to liaise with clinical 
colleagues at the Royal Marsden on the development of new 
studies and on the successful completion and analysis of 
studies that are already underway.  There is opportunity to 
pursue your own research interests where these lie within 
the general research profile of the Unit.

You should hold a postgraduate qualification in (medical) 
statistics.  Applicants with survival analysis or clinical 
trials experience would be strongly preferred though less 
experienced applicants keen to develop a career in medical 
statistics will be considered.  The ability to communicate 
statistical concepts to health professionals is essential 
and you should be happy working as either part of a team or 
independently.

The post is available for 3 years in the first instance.  
The starting salary will depend on experience but will be 
between £18,437 and £32,228 (including London Weighting).  
Well-qualified part-time applicants will be considered.
