SENIOR RESEARCH OFFICER/RESEARCH OFFICER
	
Department of Mathematics

NERC funded project on measurement of rainfall using dual-wavelength microwave attenuation.

Applications are invited for the above two year, fixed-term post for appointment from as soon as possible.

The project, which is in collaboration with Salford University, the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, and industry,
 is an experiment to test a new method of estimating rainfall in urban areas.

Duties of the post will include the handling, storage and analysis of attenuation, raingauge and radar data
, and liaison with other groups.

Applicants should have a good honours degree in an appropriate subject, such as Applied Mathematics,
 Physics, Electronic Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science or Meteorology. 
 Applicants for the Research Officer post should have an M.Sc., and those for the
 Senior Research Officer post, should normally have a Ph.D.

Appointment to this full-time, fixed-term post will be in the range £16,286 - £24,479 per annum.
