She or he will teach theoretical or applied courses, introductory and advanced. She or he will take part in the research activities organised by the Institute (doctoral thesis, seminars, workshops,...) as well as in the service activities (consulting, continued education, ...). b) Required qualifications - Ph.D. degree in statistics or in a related field. - Research abilities in the field of statistics and experience in one or several fields of application. - Teaching ability and capacity of being integrated into a group. c) Starting date : September 1, 2000 Interested persons are invited to send their application to the Rector of the University (Place de l'Université, 1, 1348 Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium) before December 15, 1999. They are asked to join a certified copy of their last diploma, an exhaustive curriculum vitae, a bibliographic list and the abstracts of their five most outstanding publications. They will mention the name and address of four leading scientists, non members of the Université catholique de Louvain to whom references can be asked. The candidates should also provide a summary (of about one page) of their research interests and projects, as well as a further summary (of about one page) that describes the pedagogical approach they would like to adopt. Candidates must have the required qualifications in order to carry out scientific research at top level and to animate, or even to lead, a team of researchers. Moreover, candidates must be aware that they are expected to be able to teach in French in a near future.
