Job Description:

This is a full-time post and the successful applicant will be situated in
the Section Care of the Elderly, Division of Medicine B, Imperial College
School of Medicine, Hammersmith Campus. This post involves varied work on a
number of projects, including the major new international trial on
Hypertension in the Very Elderly (HYVET), which is a multicentre, double
blind, randomised, controlled trial. The trial compares the effect of active
treatment for combined systolic and diastolic hypertension over the age of
80 with placebo.

The ideal candidate will be able to work as part of the departmental team,
and provide statistical input as required to members of the team, including
clinicians, research nurses and researchers. Main duties include
responsibility for data analysis, interpretation and publication of results
mainly for the HYVET trial.

Ideally, the post would suit a candidate with a good background in
statistics at undergraduate level, and an MSc in Medical Statistics. Current
students will be considered. Applicants should be computer literate and have
working knowledge of some statistical packages, such as SPSS, SAS and STATA.

The position is available for two years in the first instance. Salary on the
ORS1/OR2 scale  (£17,293 to 24.919 inclusive of London Weighting) according
to experience.
