>Apologies for X-posting. >Reminder DEADLINE extended to 12/8/99 LECTURESHIP IN MEDICAL STATISTICS The Centre for Medical Statistics at Keele University wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Medical Statistics with interests in statistical modelling applied to the analysis of randomised controlled clinical trials. The person appointed will support a new Clinical Trials Development Unit and work closely with the local Trusts’ R&D Programme Director responsible for trials. The Unit will become a Centre of excellence in the design and analysis of clinical trials. The post is research orientated and the Lecturer will be expected to develop his/her research programme in cognate modelling areas (e.g., longitudinal data analysis, survival analysis or design) and to contribute to the Centre’s teaching programme. The ideal candidate will be technically proficient, have a PhD (and preferably a MSc) in Statistics or Biostatistics, have experience of working in a medical research environment and be able to demonstrate evidence of an emerging publication profile in medical statistics. Enthusiasm, good communication skills and an interest in medical research and teaching are essential attributes for this key post. The appointment will be made on the first 3 points of the Lecturer A scale according to qualifications and experience. The post, which is funded jointly with the North Staffordshire Hospital NHS Trust, is for 3 years in the first instance with the possibility of extension and is subject to a satisfactory probationary period of one year.
