REMINDER (Apologies for cross-postings): Royal Statistical Society RSS HERTS/BEDS LOCAL GROUP MEETING "An accidental statistician" JON McGINTY (Socio-Economic Division, Office for National Statistics) On Thursday 21st October at 6.30pm in room A166, Lindop Building, University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield Campus. Tea at 6.00pm. ALL WELCOME (There is no charge, and no need to inform us of your intention to attend) Jon McGinty, a statistician from ONS, will talk about how he came to work for the Government Statistical Service and highlight some of the opportunities, highs and lows that this career has offered. He will describe the kind of work that he has been involved in over the last few years and try to guess what the future may hold. Members of the audience are invited to join the speaker and members of the Local Group Committee in a local hostelry after the meeting, where there will be an opportunity to partake in food, drink and informal conversation. Please note that you are asked to pay for your own food and drink, but the conversation is free.
