A non-proportional hazards model for multi-state stochastic processes.

Synopsis:

The Generalised Time-Dependent Logistic Model has been proposed as a
reasonable alternative to the now standard Proportional Hazards (PH)
model of Cox. While retaining Cox's constant of proportionality,
the model also allows the hazard to depend on a function of
time and the covariates, thus relaxing the rather strict PH assumption.
This talk describes the derivation of the of the
model, its basic properties including a frailty interpretation and an
extension to the multi-state framework.

Joint Modelling of Longitudinal and Event History Data

Synopsis:

Many scientific investigations generate both longitudinal
measurement data, with repeated measurements of a
response variable at a number of time points, and
event history data, in which times to or between recurrent or
terminating events are recorded. Whilst the two separate
areas now have well developed statistical methodologies, until
recently there has been rather little attention given to the
possibilities for joint analysis. This talk reviews
available models and methods for joint analysis.
A joint model incorporating the most
commonly used first-choice assumptions from both subject
areas is suggested and an example from pharmaceutical research
is used to illustrate the ideas.
