CTI Excel Workshop - Coventry University, 2 July 1999

Microsoft Excel is an extremely useful tool for interactive teaching and
learning of Statistics/data-analysis. This workshop is intended for those
already familiar with Excel who wish to make better use of its capabilities
in their teaching.

The day will be divided into four sessions. In the first session the
presenters will demonstrate sample materials which show the type of
activities which are possible - both with and without macros. In the
remaining sessions, which will be hands-on, participants will be shown how
to build workbooks of their own as the presenters reveal some of the tricks
of their trade.

Topics covered will include:
   Specialist functions
   Advanced charting
   Controls (e.g. spinners, drop-downs)
   Animated simulations
   Macros and Visual Basic programming
   Excel and the Internet

The workshop will be presented by Rodney Carr of Deakin University in
Australia and Neville Hunt of Coventry University. Both presenters are
authors of widely used Excel-based materials (XLStatistics and DISCUS,
respectively) and have extensive experience of running workshops for
teachers and academics.

The workshop fee includes refreshments throughout the day and lunch in the
Lanchester Restaurant. A complete set of notes and accompanying workbooks
will also be provided.
