Scottish Cohort Study of Male Reproductive Health
---------------------------------------------------------------
A study co-ordinator/ data manager is required for a population 
survey funded by the Health and Safety Executive and the Department 
of Health, and being undertaken jointly by the MRC Reproductive 
Biology Unit (principal investigator, Dr DS Irvine), and  Public 
Health Sciences, University of Edinburgh      (P. Warner and Dr R 
Agius). This post will be based in the Medical Statistics Unit of  
Public Health Sciences. 

Data management duties will include supervising data management 
aspects of mail-outs to potential study participants, development and 
maintenance of a database for study management, monitoring progress 
in recruiting participants, and in data collection, overseeing the 
data processing of the biological and questionnaire data that will be 
generated, accumulating and checking disk data, and preliminary 
analyses and reports. 

The requirement therefore is for a graduate with considerable 
organisational, data-handling and computing skills, an enthusiasm for 
health research, and an understanding of the principles and 
importance of methodologically-sound study execution and data 
collection/processing. The necessity for liaising successfully with 
clinical and non-clinical investigators, study staff and others at 
two sites, and outside agencies, means that excellent interpersonal 
and communication skills are essential.

Consideration may be given to filling the post with two part-time 
post-holders.

Start date:  As soon as possible 
Salary range:  stlg15,735 - stlg17,570 or  stlg15,735 - stlg23,651 depending on 
qualifications and experience
Starting point:   up to stlg 20,107
