Post-Doctoral Research Assistant and PhD Studentship in
Neural Networks and Machine Learning.
Applications are invited for a post-doctoral research assistant and a
PhD student to work on an EPSRC funded project:
``Critical Evaluation of Bayesian Methods in Neural Networks''.
The aim of this project is to perform a critical study of the performance
of Bayesian Inference methods in the context of neural network type function
approximatiors. The work will partly be theoretical, including attempts to
quantify what is lost by approximations in inference, such as the Laplace
approximation. Part of the work will be experimental, attempting to quantify
performances on large realworld tasks taken from a range of areas including
speech signal processing, medical diagnostics and options pricing in finance.
The studentship will be along these lines, but with focus on sequential
problems.
Both positions are for three years and available for immediate start.
The age-linked salary for the RA is in the range 15,735 - 20,107 pounds
per annum; standard EPSRC rules apply to the studentship.
