Having received the corrected SLC CD-ROM, we find that the fee-split information is almost consistently erroneous. Roughly half our students have hyphens in these fields, which is supposed to mean that they are Not Eligible in Principle for Fee Support. This is quite wrong - they are in fact Eligible for Fee Support, but have been assessed for a Personal Contribution of 1025 (either because of the means test, or because they opted not to disclose income information for assessment). These students should be shown as (0, 1025), not (-,-). Just to prevent the error being entirely consistent, there are just one or two students who are correctly shown as (0, 1025). This may not matter much to the SLC, but the distinction between a student who is Not Eligible in Principle for Fee Support, and one who is Eligible but receiving zero Fee Support is a critical distinction for certain HEIs. -- Robin Walker, (Junior Bursar), Queens' College, Cambridge, CB3 9ET, GB [log in to unmask] http://www.quns.cam.ac.uk/ Tel:+44 1223 335528 Fax:335566 %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
