Could anyone please fill me in on the basic theory behind 'Corrected Calcium'. (ie adding 0.02mmol/l to the total calcium for every gram of albumin less than 40). If it is a reflection of ionised Calcium then why is the 'corrected' Calcium greater than the total if Albumin is less than 40?
