The lipid composition is consistent with the presence of chylomicron material
and this finding in PD fluid suggests a lymphatic fistula. Chylomicrons can be
demonstrated by standing the fluid overnight in the fridge, which will give a
milky surface layer with a clear infranatant. The intermittent nature of this
problem may relate to food intake during dialysis.
