Regarding a report of abnormally low glucose on a Precision G instrument reported by Don Mikkelsen (Hello Don), I have a verbal report of a similar happening at another hospital in Sydney. The Hexokinase venous glucose (Hitachi 917) was about 80 mmol/L, but the Precision G was 23 mmol/L or similar. The clinicians were not impressed! I had been involved in testing the intruments and had not thought to test responses to very high glucose levels. I wonder if there could be product inhibition of the enzymatic reaction ....
