PhDs in Statistics and Applied Probability

Following four recent appointments, including two professors, the Division
of Statistics is seeking to expand its PhD programme. Funding is available
for PhD students holding First Class honours degrees at a rate equivalent

>From the next session, members of the Statistics Division, together with
some of their research areas, are:

Frank Ball: Epidemic models, ion channel models, transform based inference
Vic Barnett: Environmental statistics, outliers, inference
Ian Dryden: Shape analysis, image analysis, spatial statistics
Huiling Le: Shape theory, diffusions on manifolds
Cliff Litton: Statistical archaeology, change-point problems
Saralees Nadarajah: Extreme value statistics
Phil O'Neill: Epidemic models, MCMC methods
Andy Wood: Bootstrap and simulation methods, saddlepoint approximations,
	       statistical aspects of fractals
