Dear all,

Applications are invited for a fixed term appointment as a Research
Associate working with Gill Valentine, Tracey Skelton and  Ruth Butler
on an ESRC funded project titled Living on The Edge: understanding the
marginalisation and resistance of vulnerable youth. This project is
part of the ESRC's Youth Citizenship and Social Change Programme.

We hope that some list members may be interested in applying; and
would be grateful also if list members would pass this on to anyone
else they know who may be interested.

The appointment will be made on the RA1A scale up to spine point 8
depending on age and experience (ie. a sterling salary in the range of
approx. 16K - 19K). Applicants should have a first degree in a
relevant social science subject and postgraduate or other relevant
research experience. Experience of working with vulnerable groups or
knowledge of sign language will be an advantage but is not essential.

The preferred start date (though this is negotiable) is 1 March 1999
