Sorry to intrude, my name is Martha Angonese and I am a final year
BSc Information Management student at Manchester Metropolitan
University.

For my final year dissertation I am looking at the use of
digitisation in libraries and I am preparing case-studies on 3
libraries which have invested in digitising some of their collections
(British Library, Vatican Library, Central Library of Florence) and
making it available via the internet or other electronic media
(CD-ROM).

I would very much like to hear from scholars who have
actually used digitized images for their research and what you
thought of it.(The digitised images do not necessarily need to be
from the above named libraries, but it would be great if any of you
has accessed them).

I am interested in what the main problems or deterrents are for using
digital images opposed to the original or facsimiles (and of course
the perceived advantages)

I would be very grateful for any response.

Yours,

Martha Angonese
