Hello everyone
The School of Earth Sciences at the University of Leeds has two jobs
available, one in Geodynamics and one in Sedimentology - outlined below.

Rob Butler

   Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Reader (2 posts)

This School has an outstanding International reputation and has been
awarded grade 5 for research and also excellent for teaching in the recent
UK assessment exercises. These positions may be appointed at the level of
Lecturer/Senior Lecturer or Reader, dependent on your experience and
research status. You will be expected to contribute to teaching at
undergraduate and masters levels, along with field studies, supervision of
postgraduate students and development of research of international calibre.

                      Sedimentology

Required to complement and integrate with our large and thriving earth
surface studies and palaeontological research group. Experience within any
field of process-based sedimentology would be welcome but suitable areas
would include surficial processes, Quaternary geology, Carbonate
sedimentology, volcaniclastic environments, glacial sedimentology,
modelling of environmental controls on sedimentary environments, or
quantitative sedimentary basin analysis. Applicants with
inter-disciplinary research interests are especially encouraged to apply:
we have ties with research groups in geophysics, structural geology and
geochemistry within the School, and links elsewhere in the University (e.g.
School of Geography, Leeds Environment Centre and Applied Mathematical
Studies).

                      Geodynamics/Tectonophysics

You will be a high-calibre researcher in the broad field of geodynamics or
tectonophysics, with research skills in modelling and numerical studies of
large-scale physical processes and their application to natural systems.
Research interests may include mantle and lithospheric processes, active
tectonics, basin dynamics, oceanic tectonics, seismo-tectonics and
geodesy. You should be interested in collaborating with strong research
groups within the School (geophysics, structural geology, earth surface
studies and geochemistry) and the University (e.g. Applied Mathematical
Studies).
