Naturally organisations are trying to understand and support and capitalise on these opportunities which are far reaching and comprehensive, ranging from 'tele-working' in commercial organisations to remote teaching in academia. To support these developments traditional IT support departments need to understand where these opportunities lie, the business imperatives for their adoption, and must be in a position to assist in the adoption and support of the new technologies in a timely manner. Collectively these collaborative working products are commonly called 'GroupWare'. Enough groundbreaking work has been done to prove the worth of these new technologies but the exact products structures and support environment models have not been finalised. It is also interesting to note that while in the past many business computing developments have been 'IT lead', it would appear that many collaborative working initiatives are more business driven. This seminar is designed to deliver an overview of what GroupWare is, where it is going and the problems associated with implementing Collaborative working environments. Real world examples of Collaborative working implementations will be presented to allow delegates learn from the experience of others. -- R.
