CALL FOR PAPERS

The System Safety Society is pleased to announce the 17th International
System Safety Conference, August 16 to 21, 1999, at the Holiday Inn
International Drive Resort, Orlando, Florida, USA. The conference is an
international forum for the technical presentation and discussion of all
aspects and issues regarding system safety engineering and management.

The conference theme is System Safety -- System Safety at the Dawn of a New
Millennium. The emphasis is on knowledge and skills necessary to create the
best total system safety solutions. The spectrum of topics will cover both
the art and science of system safety, and the organizational issues
influencing the effective management of system safety in the product life
cycle.

This is the major conference for system safety and related professionals,
with a week of technical sessions, tutorials, workshops, special events,
social affairs, luncheons, and the society's conference awards banquet.  The
conference proceedings are the premier collection of work in the system
safety field. 

We are seeking abstracts for the papers in the system safety areas of space
systems, aviation, weapon systems,
electronics, transportation, facility design and operation, medical,
simulation, robotics, chemical processes, environmental, fire prevention,
energy, energetic materials, risk assessment, and legal issues. If you are
interested in participating on any of the panels please notify the Technical
Programs Chair.

Paper Submission Requirements: Title of paper* 200-400 word abstract in
English.   Author(s) full name, addresses, telephone, fax, E-mail.  Brief
biographical sketch of author(s). Format:  Microsoft Word, times new roman
font, 10 pt.  Deadline Dates.  Abstracts are due by January 15, 1999.
Authors will be notified of acceptance by February 15, 1999.  Full text
drafts are due by April 15, 1999. Final papers must be submitted by June 15,
1998.

The conference will be held at the Holiday Inn International Drive Resort,
6515 International Drive, Orlando, FL, 32819, phone (407) 351-3500. Located
directly on International Drive in Orlando, this 13 acre lushly landscaped
tropical resort, with 21,000 square feet of flexible meeting space
available, is in the heart of attraction area. The hotel is within walking
distance to numerous retail outlets, restaurants and attractions.  All of
